High Island Export founded in 1986 by Ross Hebeisen for the purpose of exporting hardwood veneer logs. The main species for High Island has been Black (swamp) Ash from the low lands of northern Minnesota, procured for shipment to Asia. During the early years we also shipped Green (brown) Ash, Red & White Oak, Basswood and Elm to Europe and Asia. Today the mode has changed to smaller wood stock for specialty purposes in the domestic marketplace.
